New Student Experience (NSE)

New Student Experience is a half-day program designed to provide information to new students immediately prior to the start of University classes in the fall. Some items discussed are:

SALT Awards Reception

Each Fall, during University of Arizona Family Weekend, SALT hosts an Awards Reception to honor SALT students, alumni, and friends of SALT. Staff members nominate students who have demonstrated noteworthy academic or initiative achievements. Award winners are freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors. An alumnus who has continued to be successful in the real world and who still contributes to the SALT community is also honored. Lastly, SALT honors a member of the University or greater Tucson community who contributes to the greater good of the program.

End of Semester Event

SALT To acknowledge the efforts and accomplishments of our SALT students, tutors, and staff, we gather in the SALT courtyard on the last day of classes for a mid-afternoon celebration. Music and refreshments begin the event with a short program to honor some outstanding tutors who have gone above and beyond their commitment to SALT students and staff. This fun social is a great way for us to share, laugh, take a break from the academics, and enjoy the small community that makes the SALT Center so unique.

Graduation Luncheon

In May and December each year, SALT hosts a Graduation Luncheon to honor SALT students that will be graduating from UA. Students share this great achievement with friends, family, and SALT staff at the luncheon, which takes place on the Friday before commencement. Graduates are presented with a certificate and an award that commemorates their commitment to their education and to SALT. The luncheon and ceremony recognizes the unique challenges faced by SALT students and celebrates the outstanding accomplishments of each graduate.
