Learning Support Services
The SALT Center offers a wide variety of tutoring services that are designed to provide students multiple opportunities to access academic support throughout the academic year. Based upon the student's request there are options to utilize one-on-one appointments for the review of course content, group review sessions prior to upcoming exams,
and walk-in services through the Math/Science and Writer's Labs.
Mission
SALT Learning Support Services offer students access to specifically trained peer tutors who assist students in mastering course content and developing academic skills. Tutors encourage and support students in a non-judgmental environment as they provide individualized support for each student’s needs. SALT tutors foster academic achievement and build confidence so that students can become independent learners.
Services

- One-on-one tutoring designed to meet students' individual needs.
- Small group tutoring by specific subject area conducted by a tutor for two or more students in a common course.
- Large group reviews conducted by two or more tutors for a group of students before exams
- Writer's Lab: Assistance for any writing assignment across the curriculum. Walk-in and appointments available.
- Math and Science Lab: Assistance for lower division university math and science classes, Pima College math classes and the math readiness exam. Walk-in and appointments available.
Our Tutors
SALT tutors are juniors, seniors, or graduate students with a minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0. They are currently enrolled at the University, and have been recommended by University faculty members or other individuals who attest to their content knowledge and skills/character. A few tutors, already graduated at Bachelor, Masters, or Ph.D. levels, are hired outside of the University population.
SALT Tutors range from undergraduates to retirees. They represent a highly diverse, international community of individuals dedicated to student success.
