Welcome to the SALT Center! I am honored to serve as the Director of a Center which is nationally recognized and locally grounded in best practices for students with attention and learning challenges. The Center's staff and I are experienced and eager to assist you as you begin your journey of achievement at the University of Arizona.

As a licensed psychologist trained in clinical and school psychology, I focus on learning and attention challenges within my specialty areas of the psychology of learning and leadership. I frequently consult with education leaders on diverse learning, and have taught and led over 250 credit courses, workshops, and presentations for students and professionals. Among the courses I have developed and taught are “Coaching College Students with AD/HD and LD,” “Strategies for AD/HD and LD,” and “Take Charge of Your Academic Success.”

For over 15 years I have held professional positions that promote academic success in both private and public higher education and school districts in urban, rural, and suburban settings. Most recently I earned tenure as associate professor in a liberal arts-focused teaching college where I was founding director of a master's program that prepares cross-campus higher education leaders for the goal of diverse student achievement. I bring this understanding of academic success in diverse settings with a whole campus lens to the focus of students with learning and attention challenges in the SALT Center.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio and graduate of Kent State University I have earned bachelor's degrees in business and psychology, an MEd and EdS in school psychology, a PhD in curriculum and instruction, and an Equivalency Doctorate in school psychology. After focusing my doctoral research on collaborative strategies for college students with AD/HD, I have dedicated my books and articles to meeting the needs of diverse learners. It is important to me that research and best practices like those in the SALT Center are shared with professionals in the wider education community.
