Hello, my name is Caroline Ragano. Originally from Long Island, New York and relocated to Tucson in 1981. Although I did not understand it at first, I now comprehend and appreciate the beauty of the desert. In 1988, I began here at SALT as a tutor while completing work on my Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and Rehabilitation. Just after completing my degree, my professional career began here in 1992. I continued my education part time and more earned my Master's Degree in Special Education, with an emphasis in Learning Disabilities, from the UofA. Currently, I am one of the Strategic academic professionals here at SALT.
I maintain an individual membership in Phi Lambda Theta (honorary), Phi Theta Kappa and Phi Theta Kappa Alumni Association (honorary), Association on Higher Education and Disabilities (AHEAD), Arizona Post-Secondary Access Coalition (AzPAC), Tucson Area Reading Council (TARC), and Business and Professional Woman's Organization (BPW).
My professional / research interests are in Attention Deficit Disorder, co-morbidity Learning Disabilities with other Disabilities. I created and maintain a series of workshops for SALT students with AD/HD. Most recently, I am conducting a literature review on Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) and Attention Deficit. I continually conduct literature reviews on Attention Deficit Disorders and maintain this information. In addition to this, I conduct an average of 6 strategy based workshops for students and 8 strategy, informational workshops for tutors on issues related to Learning Disabilities.
I enjoy working with learning strategies and watching people grow.
