Hello! I'm happy to be a part of the SALT team and be able to work with students everyday. I moved to Tucson from Los Angeles about three years ago to get away from all that traffic! I received my undergraduate degree from a small liberal arts college in Washington State called The Evergreen State College. I majored in Cultural Studies with a minor in Social Justice. After several years of working in social services in Los Angeles I obtained my Masters degree in social work from the University of Southern California with an emphasis in Public Child Welfare and social services for American Indian children and families.
After completing my masters, I embarked into the field of Public Child Welfare. It was during this time I had the opportunity to work closely with many children, youth and young adults, who not only struggled in the chaotic system of Child Protective Services, but were also students attempting to navigate through school with their disabilities. As their social worker I spent countless hours advocating for assistance and accommodations for children, youth and young adults who didn't have parents or family to help them.
I look forward to working with you in identifying your strengths as you work towards your degree here at the U of A.
