Hello. My name is Dejah Miranda-Huxley and I am a part of the External Relations and Research team here at the SALT CENTER as the Office Specialist.
Before beginning work here in July of 2008, my husband and I spent two years in Guatemala serving at a school in an indigenous village through teaching English and working with students’ families in order to get to know them better and find out how we could best meet their needs. In a sense, my role at the SALT Center is very similar. I work to meet the needs of the SALT Center, its students, and alumni as well as work with the local community of Tucson, specifically local high schools, to help promote higher education, especially to those marginalized by a learning disability and by their economic and/or social status.
I am originally from Phoenix, Arizona and received a Bachelors in Anthropology and a Minor in Latin American Studies from Northern Arizona University. Outside of the SALT Center, I enjoy anything to do with health, fitness and sports, as well as being outdoors, reading and seeing live music, which Tucson is a great place for. I am very excited be a part of the SALT Center.
