Hi! I'm Lupe Thompson, and I am a Learning Specialist, Coordinator at the SALT Center.
I have worked with SALT students since 1989. I first began working with SALT students in the Office of Admissions as an Admissions Officer and was fortunate enough to begin working for the SALT Center as a Learning Specialist in July 1996.
Working one on one with students has given me valuable insight as to how to improve upon and develop new learning strategies for all types of learners. In addition to working individually with students I have also created and conduct many workshops and information sessions on learning, the hidden curriculum, exam preparation, memory strategies and test taking strategies for SALT students, tutors and the campus community. I have presented at local and national conferences such as NACADA, and AHEAD and have been a guest speaker for several college classes.
On a personal note, I grew up in Tucson and graduated from The University of Arizona in May 1989. My husband is an English teacher and my two children are very involved with school, and their Karate and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes. I enjoy reading, shopping, listening to music (you should ask me about my favorite type of music), camping, and spending time with my family. I look forward to meeting you and working with you soon.
