Hello. My name is Michael Penn and I am one of 10 Academic Professionals currently on staff in the SALT Center. This is my ninth year serving as a member of the staff. I am an alum of the University of Arizona and completed all of my undergraduate and graduate work through the Eller College of Business. Currently, I am a member of AHEAD, a professional organization and in 1995 and 2000 attended conferences in San Jose, CA and Kansas City, MO.
Within the department, I am currently or was recently involved in several committees, including the re-creation, design and implementation of a SALT Mentor program, re-design of the SALT Center website, restructuring of the SALT new student orientation program and the SALT Center Family Weekend awards ceremony.
In addition to my normal duties, I have become increasingly more involved in minority outreach, making visits to both middle and high schools in the local community and presenting to teachers, counselors and students. Originally, I am from Roosevelt, NY, but was raised in Tucson and have lived here most of my life. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, running, biking, metal detecting and following sports.
